Peak 2020

Preparations are well underway at DPD Ireland for our biggest Peak season EVER. 2020 has brought about much change for everyone. We have all had to cancel plans and events and deal with challenges that were unheard of this time last year. The Team at DPD promises to do their very best to support you this Christmas.

To put things into perspective, DPD invested €4m expanding their hub, Network and infrastructure so that they could manage the increase in parcel deliveries that have come to them. With this expansion, DPD can now process a whopping 18,000 parcels an hour!

Covid-19 has changed how we operate - we have stringent safety protocols in place throughout our facilities, we’re providing Contactless Delivery, we’ve extended our Hub Sortation Hours, and our Teams at the DPD Depots all around the country are working really hard to provide great service every single day.

The company has also significantly expanded its network nationwide and hired 700 new drivers and have also invested in their Customer Service department, so they can answer whatever queries you may have quicker than ever!

The DPD team have essential worker status but where checkpoints are in place, traffic is delayed. DPD are all doing their best to work efficiently with the current restrictions and appreciate your support.

Reminder - do make sure that if you’re shipping to a business location that the location is open to receive goods – many locations are closed a result of restrictions.

Make sure to keep up to date on the DPD Holiday schedule. DPD will be taking a few days rest after Christmas, so check their Irish operation dates here. DPD’s depots and offices are closed on Christmas Eve until 30th December.

Remember to ship on time - our Network is at capacity at this time of year. Ensure that you manage your customers’ expectations.

Trends

Trends

Up to February 2020, DPD Ireland’s business was split almost 50/50 between deliveries to consumers at home, and deliveries to workplaces. Now, with so many of us now working from home, that split has shifted, and now around 80% of all deliveries go to people’s homes. Our own administrative teams are also following that trend - more than 70% of the DPD office team members are working from their home offices.

This Christmas, let’s all work together

Whether that’s at home, in the office, in a factory or plant, on the road, or any other environment, we are all finding our feet in the new normal.
