Normal HD Blu-ray™ players only output video with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080px. Today’s 4K UHD TVs, however, show pictures with resolutions of 3,840 x 2,160px. So when they’re fed a standard HD Blu-ray™ picture, they ‘upconvert’ it to their higher resolutions. They deliver even more purity when you use a true 4K source. Comprehensive HDR Support
The latest Panasonic 4K Blu-ray™ players play every key HDR format, these comprise of the AV world’s core HDR10 format; the broadcast-friendly HLG system which automatically optimises its pictures to any type of television; plus, finally, the HDR10+ and (on the UB820) Dolby Vision ‘dynamic’ HDR systems which provide extra scene by scene information to help TVs optimise their HDR performance.

The quality of a high dynamic range picture experience can be greatly affected by the characteristics of your TV. The HDR Optimiser counters this inconsistency by adapting the brightest parts of HDR images to the brightness capabilities of the TV the Panasonic UHD Blu-Ray™ player is connected to. Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray™ players are packed with high-end audio technology. All the latest Panasonic models feature proprietary stabilising technology to enhance sound clarity and play high-resolution DSD and ALAC files as well as conventional WAV, FLAC, AAC and WMA formats. The UB820 and UB420 additionally use a 192kHz/32-bit DAC to enhance playback of subtle sound details and carry two HDMI outputs that keep the video and audio signals separate for extra clarity and quality.
4K Streaming Support
Panasonic 4K Blu-ray™ players won’t just play 4K video from Ultra HD Blu-ray™ discs. Our models will also support playback of native 4K content from the likes of Netflix and YouTube. What’s more, each online source will have its picture quality taken to a whole new level by being run through Panasonic’s 4K High-Precision Chroma Processor before it’s passed to your TV.
